Why Establish a Task Force?
AB 1147 signed by Governor Davis last year, authorizes twelve flood control projects, modifies the State local cost-sharing formula for participation in federal flood protection projects, significantly increases the State's oversight on federal flood control projects and recommends establishment of a Floodplain Management Task Force. This Task Force must complete its work by December 31, 2002.The focus of the Task Force is to examine specific issues related to State and local floodplain management, including actions that could substantially reduce potential flood damages and to make recommendations for more effective statewide floodplain management policies.
